Demand that the Maritime Administration stand up to Big Oil and stop expanding crude oil

The Trump Administration wants to approve another offshore port to ship crude oil off the coast of Port Arthur, TX, and Cameron Parish, LA. If built, this oil terminal and pipeline project would put Gulf Coast communities and delicate ecosystems at risk, and lock us into decades more of dirty energy exports.

Tell the Trump Administration why you don't want this Blue Marlin Oil Port built!

The Impacts:

  • Ecological devastation: Blue Marlin would require a large oil pipeline running through Bessie Heights marsh and Lake Sabine—two of the region's most important wetlands and fisheries. Construction and operation of the pipeline would put these sensitive ecosystems at risk, harming wildlife habitat and disrupting the natural resources that support local communities.
  • Risk of Catastrophic Oil Spills: An oil spill along the pipeline route or at the offshore terminal could have devastating consequences for wildlife, public health, commercial and recreational fisheries, and the local economies that depend on clean water and healthy coastal ecosystems.
  • Cumulative Impacts: Gulf Coast communities already shoulder the burden of oil and petrochemical development, including toxic air pollution, industrial accidents, and worsening hurricanes fueled by climate change.
  • Decades of Pollution: Blue Marlin is one of four proposed offshore VLCC export terminals that together would enable millions of barrels of additional oil exports each day and entrench fossil fuel dependence across their 30-year life span.
