Stop the Desert Southwest Pipeline and AI Data Centers

The proposed Desert Southwest Pipeline—and the massive AI data centers it would power—would threaten communities, Indigenous sacred sites, scarce water resources, wildlife, and the climate, while driving up electricity bills for working families.

I'm very concerned that Big Tech and major utility companies are pushing for a 516-mile Desert Southwest Pipeline, which would run from Texas' Permian Basin through southern New Mexico and into suburban Phoenix to power a rapid buildout of AI data centers.

The pipeline and data centers would devastate communities, wildlife, and the environment, and raise electricity and water costs for working people.

The Southwest is already facing a severe water crisis. Data centers require millions of gallons of water for cooling, which would make what little water the region has even scarcer. Fracking in the Permian Basin also contaminates groundwater.

I’m also concerned that the pipeline would cut through fragile ecosystems, including the Chihuahuan Desert and Otero Mesa, home to more than 1,000 native species and sacred cultural sites.

Further, transporting and burning this fracked gas would release an estimated 56 million metric tons of CO₂ annually—equivalent to 15 coal plants—worsening the very droughts and extreme heat already impacting the water supply that communities and wildlife rely on.

People across Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona would also be forced to live with the constant threat of leaks, explosions, and methane exposure, and other pollution that would make them sick. This is unacceptable.

I urge you to block the Desert Southwest Pipeline and stand up for the people who live here. You can not sacrifice our homes, sacred land, and access to water so gas and Big Tech companies can rake in billions more dollars in profits at our expense.
